Very sad day

I will be M.I.A. for a few days... so so so hard to believe.

Standing here
The old man said to me,
"Long before these crowded streets
Here stood my dreaming tree."
Below it he would sit
For hours at a time
Now progress takes away
What forever took to find
And now he's falling hard
He feels the falling dark
How he longs to be
Beneath his dreaming tree

Conquered fear to climb
A moment froze in time
When the girl who first he kissed
Promised him she'd be his
Remembered mother's words
There beneath the tree
"No matter what the world
You'll always be my baby."
"Mommy come quick,
The dreaming tree has died."
The air is growing thick
A fear he cannot hide
The dreaming tree has died

Oh, have you no pity?
This thing I do
I do not deny it
All through this smile
As crooked as danger
I do not deny
I know in my mind
I would leave you now
If I had the strength to
I would leave you up
To your own devices
Will you not talk?
Can you take pity?
I don't ask much
But won't you speak, please?

From the start
She knew she had it made
Easy up 'til then
For sure she'd make the grade
Adorers came in hordes
To lay down in her wake
Gave it all she had
But treasures slowly fade
Now she's falling hard
Feels the fall of dark
How did this fall apart?
She drinks to fill it up
A smile of sweetest flowers
Wilted so and soured
Black tears stain the cheeks
That once were so admired
She thinks when she was small
There on her father's knee
How he had promised her,
"You'll always be my baby."
"Daddy come quick,
The dreaming tree has died
I can't find my way home
There is no place to hide
The dreaming tree has died."

Oh, if I had the strength to
I would leave you up
To your own devices
Will you not talk?
Can you take pity?
I don't ask much
But won't you speak, please?

Lovely Weekend

Michael and I had a lovely weekend at home. Well, he was at home on Friday, while I worked (lucky him, so much use-or-lose government Annual Leave!) - but while filing and doing my normal thing I ordered from JCrew some things I had been holding off on getting all Spring/Summer from JCrew. So I saved a TON of money and got them over the weekend:

Got the skirt in Soft Fuschia and the Super 120s similar skirt in black:

Sea Foam Treasures Bracelet!:

Sand-Dollar Necklace:

And the Darla Shift in the Brilliant Blue:

Yay! Happy Birthday to Me. Basically the money I spent on this is the money I unexpectedly saved from buying my lone TWO textbooks for this Fall. I had saved up double the amount for textbooks thinking each course would require at least one book and that was not the case. Yay!!

romantic. even if the movie is super-cheesy in general!

I LOVE this scene:

I showed it to Isabel last night over drinks and she agreed. It is one of the most romantic proposals ever. And not going to kid, I thought Mike was going to propose to me this AM. It was so weird, he woke me up this AM (little kisses all over my face), and he was sitting next to me, and just looking at me for a while. His left hand was kind-of away and to the side, and he kept holding my left hand... and then my ring finger. Kissed my ring finger. And then I sat up more (at this time thinking, omgomgomgomgomg) and then he kind-of walked away.

...damnit! haha

oh no they didn't

Britney is back! And... this time the press isn't lying/kidding/being weird. Although the elephant in the room gimmick is pretty funny. Not going to lie.

Good for her! I would be pissed if my family gave thousands upon thousands of dollars to a candidate who then insulted me in an ad!

Fall 2008

I love J.Crew. Just last night, barely over two days before my birthday, they sent me my Rewards Card in record time. Yay! And I love their clothes for Fall.

Just the fashion that is coming up for Fall is gorgeous. Gorgeous! On a low-maintenance and high-class scale, both are well-represented by fashion that is coming up. Jewel tones, luxe fabrics, kind-of repeating the early Spring looks. I know for sure that Gossip Girl will be leading the pack again for the fashionistas in the twenty and thirty something category. I am all about patterned and colorful tights, rich looking bags, silks and 50s-style tailored suits! This is going to be a fab season and as I am a Leo, I know I will look fantastic and comfortable in all of them. (Just to toot my own horn a bit)

I plan on getting some key pieces that I can dress up and down all season. And maybe a couple of splurge items too. It just depends on these gas prices! Yikes! I plan on pulling my v-neck cashmere cable sweaters and my silk tops out of storage. Get my suit pants rehemmed and work them a lot too!

Here are some things I am eying:

Jeweled Critter Belt, J.Crew, on clearance for $19.99

Dr. Q Groovee purse, Marc by Marc Jacobs, $498.00

Cashmere puff sleeve sweater dress, Banana Republic, $170.00

Martini t-strap Victorian-style pump, Two Lips, $80.00

from my brother

I don't know how my brother finds these things - but I got this email from him last night. I already forwarded it to my artsy friends and wanted to share it on here too - this is pretty groovy/freaky. In an arthouse-meets-Guggenheim digital media mural art exhibit sort of way. This was done by the guy who vandalized the Tate Modern in London earlier this year [http://www.blublu.org/sito/news/news.htm]
